The Artist

"It all starts with something in nature catching my eye. It could be the shocking pink of dried seaweed against pale sand, or the pattern of a shell fragment when held up to the light, or the texture of a piece of wood, worn by sea and sun.

Natural beauty inspires me.

And I translate that beauty into my art." ~CassSea

Cassandra, or CassSea, is a Northern California-based artist, pediatric nurse and mother of a world-traveling family.

CassSea finds her artistic inspiration in nature. Her enduring muse is the Ocean and all its beauties: seaweed, shells, driftwood and more.

CassSea began working with seaweed when her young daughter was receiving treatment for a rare cancer. CassSea found solace in the harvesting, drying and creation of seaweed art.

After her daughter’s recovery, CassSea perfected the painstaking process of drying these fragile aquatic plants while maintaining the color and structure of the live plant.

Using this process, she began creating pressed seaweed pendants and bracelets and sharing them with friends. Quickly these beautiful pieces became popular gifts and now, CassSea is making them available to the public.

Eager to work with seaweed on a grander scale, CassSea designed art pieces with large specimens of pressed seaweed and preserved clear acrylic. Partnership with wood artist Ghani finalized these exquisite art pieces with handcrafted wood frames and tables with integrated LED lighting.
